Not as yet. You might want to try posting a question in SGL to see if that gets you/us anywhere. I've misplaced my crash-helmet so I won't be going into CN until I get a replacement. I don't appreciate having chairs broken over my head without one.....

Off to run errands in Podunk,

    Dave

Will think about it Dave, SGL kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Too many hassles for no good reason.

I more than understand, Ray. Our Mod Scott viciously me for posting an opinion in The Lounge in response to a thread asking for opinions. He made it clear that I must never speak badly of MicroShaft & it's products. Replete with threats to throw me out - that no one likes what I was saying.

And I have over 2,500 'Likes!'

Yeah. So I've been fomenting the seeds for a revolution behind the scenes and hidden where he can't ever find them. SGL appears to be devolving into a fascist-regime. And I'm out to stop it.

"The destruction of an evil system is an act of love."

    Dave

P.S. - I haven't found another word on the Broadband In. Filter. I'll certainly let you both know should I find any.

Wow Dave, I knew it was bad over there but that's unacceptable! Anyway, if u saw the eBay photo of my BIF with the ruler underneath, you probably noticed what I didn't: the size of the filter. It is not 1.25, it is smaller. It actually fits inside my other filters and threads on my eyepieces with the BIF inside! Dave and Mak, do you think the filter would be usable if I put it inside, say, a polarizing filter (or whatever you think. I picked the polarizing filter because it is almost clear I guess)? Of course I will give it a try but I wanted an experienced take on my crazy idea. I would really like to see what this filter does for viewing solar granulation, etc. Thanks guys! Oh, it seems to be more like 7/8 inch.

Erm - that should have been ".....viciously attacked me....." Alas! It's my VERY busy season in my political worlds. My fuses have been blowing left & right.

As for this 'BIF' - I'd say you're the guinea-pig here, Ray. I'll just await your (full & one & only) report on this thing. As stated - I can't find any other info on this thing. Only what all they are used for, non-astrnomical purposes only. So who knows? Maybe you'll discover the 'Phaser' and disintegrate your neighbor's car. If that's the case - I want one!

    Do carry one. 'Til later,

    Dave aka Raul

You are hilarious! I guess I will stick that filter in the ND and thread it on my eyepiece and try it out. I will report back.

I got this off the back of a lorry, could be a vintage model.

Do you reckon I can run it off my Sky-Watcher powertank?

The Barlow threads into the nozzle at the front, right?

I have the 17ah one of those power-tanks. Perhaps I'll get a microwave-oven and build a MASER. Not quite a Phaser, but enough to cause destruction with on cloudy nights! I wonder what a MASER-beam would do if I fired it through my 12" LX90.....?

    Mwahahahahaha!

Had a decent session this morning from around 00:00 to 03:10. Seeing was above average for the past two recent years and I could see a fair bit of detail in the Milky Way with a cloudless sky for nearly two hours. Eyepieces used included a 25mm Vixen NPL, 18mm Astro Hutech orthoscopic, 15mm Celestron Kellner (as a finder), 15mm Antares Plossl M.C. and an 8mm TeleVue Plossl.

    Highlights were M101:

    M45:

    and M10:

I had to stand to observe most targets, which was very tiring for me, plus there was a sky full of objects that I couldn't physically see easily. That and my Dec slo mo control fell off again lol. For some reason I couldn't locate M81. This would have been a great night for the Big Cat.

    Soon ready to roll!

I like your "Cat-Litter" - or can I further risk peril and call it "Kitty-Litter?" :p

A very good report there, MTN, and it reminds me to do 2 chores: Finish-up setting up my copy of Cartes du Ciel, and write a plug for Stellarium & peripherals, send a not to Alexander Wolf - one of the developers - and get ahold of George to clear a spot for a sub-fora introducing Stellarium to and & all interested parties.

    Bomb's Away!

    Dave

P.S.- the purple is a great touch!

Can't compete with you guys, all I have is a little BIF, lol! Unless, of course, it works!

Cat - Litter, very good Dave, lol! CDC 3.10 has been working well for me since its release and some of the little bugs that plagued 3.8 were fixed a couple years ago when 3.10 was finally released. It runs well on Ubuntu too. CDC is one of the few astro programs that actually improves with each release. I run an older version of Stellarium on Ubuntu and I don't run it on Windows anymore.

I think the 'purple' was me shagging about with the gamma correction in GIMP. I often can't resist the occasional lens flare either lol. The Catmobile does look the part though.

If the Phaser-thing works, I think a name-change might be good. How's 'bout:

    Jaguar Coupe de Gras?

I'll crawl back into my cave now.....

Why not just drop a Harley Evo 1340 cubic incher in there like I have in my Heritage Softail? Can't ride mine right now but with four wheels I could ride the Cat Mobile!
