I was able to see the close conjunction of Saturn and Mars (about 30 arcminutes apart), with Venus joining the party. I took a prime focus shot through my 127mm Mak to give the planets some size and took some widefield shots:

I enjoyed those pictures Reggie. Too cloudy here to see !*@! The Moon's coming back though so later in the week I might be getting my 127mm Mak out. Depending on clouds, of course.

Thanks, Dave. It's so peaceful getting out at dawn and seeing the planetary dance. I saw the conjunction again this morning (I'll post, soon). Saturn was sitting atop Mars, and the two were slightly closer. I snapped a few photos before some high cirrus clouds took over. I hope the clouds scurry away for you, soon.

It sounded fun. I wish I'd have seen it, but it's still cloudy and cold for April. Apparently it's the coldest April for decades. I'm really disappointed with this global warming lol. It's looking a bit better later in the week, well, according to the BBC. So probably not then. Either way, the 127mm Mak is all sorted and ready to go.

That extra 25mm makes a difference!

Here is the image I took of Mars and Saturn with Venus in tow Tuesday morning before high cirrus clouds crashed the party!

You can see a bit of the color contrast between Mars and Saturn.

    Those cirrus gatecrashers!

That's great Reggie. I can definitely see the red colour of Mars.

According to SkySafari it was 5.3 arc seconds in diameter, 91.4% illuminated and 266.3 million kilometres from Georgia. A bit more magnification and you might have seen the southern polar cap lol.
