Mars is sufficiently close and large enough for me to get a decent image with my 180mm Mak/ASI224mc kit. Great seeing and a withering dust storm! I'm pleased with the result. Lots of detail to see here:

Reggie, I'm not sure what to say about your image: Wow/Great/Fantastic/Superb/Awesome... :) I used the Windows ZOOM feature and blew up your image 300% without any detail deterioration. That says a lot about the image quality.

The weather down here seems to have taken a turn for the better, and we have had several good nights. Time to get my planetary imaging gear ready. I'm starting to feel the fever, too, and you're not helping it any. :D

Thanks, Ed. I really love my ASI cam and it works so nicely with my Maks. Nothing beats a night of good seeing though. Looking forward to seeing some of your images in the near future!

Oh yeah! Mars fever alright Reggie. Very nice. Is the white polar feature the NPH? And can I see Syrtis Major? I'm assuming the image is mirror-flipped and the white albedo feature is in the north.

Either way it deserves that well known Glaswegian delicacy; the deep fried Mars bar.

YUMMMM! Thanks for the deep-fried confection! Yes, that is the NPH and I believe I got SM, too. The map I have indicates such. Mars is looking really, really good now a month out from perigee.
