My first Mars image through the Evostar 150ED/SV305 combo. I have so much more to learn. Focusing was difficult because of 4-5/10 seeing and Mars was only 30 degrees up. After being shut down because of smoke from the fires I was eager to try my luck when the haze let up a bit.

Mars with the C14 stopped down to 90mm @ F/43

The third image is awesome. Stopping the scope down and increasing the focal ratio seems to have really helped.

Thanks Ed! Since the current seeing conditions restrict my C14 I figured I could try some experiments with my multiple aperture mask. This kind of "playing around" would be difficult with Saturn but since Mars is so bright...

The Mars pic here is at 4.5"/114mm @ F/33. I will try 60mm next. Fingers crossed. Honing my feeble skills and having fun

Do you make the mask? It's nice! Great image, too :)

Thanks! Yes, I made the mask. I enjoy experimenting with scopes and optics. (I'm a retired machinist with a CNC router)

This was my best Mars shot. Lots of smoke in the skies this summer. C14 @F/11. Svbony SV305 camera.

That's simply beautiful. One of the best images I've seen this year :)
