    Hi folks,

My name is Brian (BKBrown) and I just signed in on Saturday. The site looks terrific and there are lots of interesting things posted, I have been dipping into the various forums and feeling my way around. I have been in the hobby off and on since I was very young, I'm part of the 60s & 70s astro-kid generation. Since returning to astronomy several years ago I have been an enthusiatic lunar and planetary imager and have dipped my toe in the DSO pond as well. Recently I find myself spending more time doing visual observing and have been having a ball with a WO binoviewer. Somehow I forgot how relaxing it can be to just kick back and be a sky tourist from time to time without all the techno-hassle of the imaging game (which I really, really love!). I look forward to participating here on AC and hope I have something worthwhile to contribute. Be seeing you!

    Clear Skies,
    Brian

Hi Brian... Welcome to Astronomy Connect. I am located in the DC-area also just across the river from N. Virginia. I'm also a big binoviewer fan... it's amazing how much more comfortable and less tiring it is to observe with both eyes. I look forward to hearing about your astro activities!

    -Brian (V).

And a belated 'Greetings & Welcome' from me too! Sorry for the delay - involved in too many things at once to remember little niceties (like eating & sleeping...) for the present.

I hope you enjoy your times here, and help us all grow this rather new forum in the great directions we see it heading. I'll be looking foreward to seeing you about.

    Best wishes,

    Dave

Welcome, Brian. I'm a part-time imager from Georgia. I agree that it's great to just observe; most nights that's all I do. For me, imaging is more of a special event that takes lots of special prep, but I love it nonetheless from time to time. Got any images? If so, please post some; I would love to see them. I have some images on here, not Hubble-fare but I had a ball in the process ;) Here's a little Mars from this spring:

Thanks Dave, I am already feeling at home here :)

Reggie - I have been a pretty hardcore imager for some time and have just started making myself slow down and observe. Seeing conditions in my area have been particularly poor most of this year and I have not gotten much planetary imaging in; some Jupiter, Saturn and Mars not at all! But here are a couple of Jupiter images (my favorite target!); the first one taken through my EdgeHD 11 in November of 2012 and the Europa transit from early this year (one of my few successes in 2016) through the TEC 140. And now we won't have decent access to Jupiter or Saturn here in the northern hemisphere at my latitude again for years :(

    Clear Skies,
    Brian
