So as many of you have noticed we added a new widget to the right side panel showcasing some astronomy news from around the web. I would love to hear what you guys think of this and if you have any other feeds that you believe would be a good fit for the site. We do seek permission either by directly contacting the content owner or confirming that they do indeed allow reposting based on their terms of service. So if your suggestions do not get put up right away it may be that we have not received confirmation from that source yet.

As you may have see the thread posts are locked at the moment as we weren't sure if we wanted any discussions on the threads themselves as we had planned to prune the forum that they reside in at a later date. We didn't wan't your comments/discussions in those threads to get deleted.

If you guys think we should open those posts to discussion we can do so I believe we might be able to exclude removing posts that have replies to insure that the content stays on the site.

As always let us know your thoughts :)

I'd personally let the news-articles by themselves, to open them for comment might cause distracting. But comments on them could be made in a separate sub-fora, which could be created - if desired - for this purpose. Rather as I have done in this thread:

    http://astronomyconnect.com/forums/threads/a-most-interesting-article.3032/#post-5673

This would streamline the replies without distracting from the actual article itself.

    My 2¢,

    Dave
