Known as Nvda Kola (nuh-dah koh-lah) by the Cherokee Indians, the February full moon signified the scarcity of food during the cold season. Bone marrow soup was often a staple food during this time:

I spent some quality time with Luna last night which passed almost directly overhead by midnight. The seeing and transparency were good, and it wasn't too frigid. Usually, on moonlit-filled nights I don't try too hard to scope DSOs or other faint objects. I just focus on the moon and the brighter stars.

Nice photo Reggie. Sometimes it's not too bad with a bright Moon. I went out on the 14th and saw a fair bit considering. Schroter's Valley still showed some detail at the time.
