Lunar viewing session 27/10/17, 18:00 ~ 20:30 BST. First Quarter (transit 19:01), 7 days ascending, 48.4% illuminated, 18.7° altitude at transit, 400, 870km distant (Capricorn). Antoniadi 2 with below average transparency, although I could see Alcor.

Telescope: TS Optics 150mm, f/6 Newtonian, Sky-Watcher EQ5 mount. Eyepieces: 3.2mm BST StarGuider, 4mm and 6mm Astro Hutech orthoscopics, 9mm Circle T orthoscopic, TS Optics 2.5x short Barlow, Celestron 3x X-Cel LX short Barlow. Magnifications: 150x, 225x, 250x, 281x, 300x. Due to conditions most observing was at 225x and 250x. Baader Neodymium filter.

The Moon was low so not at its optimum for observing. Even so, First Quarter highlights included Montes Apenninus, Montes Alpes, Vallis Alpes, Sinus Medii (Wallwerk ‘lunar city’ was easily seen with a great amount of detail) and Albategnius. There was particularly bright detail apparent in Walther and Nonius. The impact formed low ridge in Nonius seemed to reflect the sunlight brightly.

Eventually hazy cloud came and the transparency worsened. Don't get me started about the fireworks. It's that time of the year. Honestly, Bonfire Night is over a week away. Guy Fawkes has a lot to bloody answer for!

Great moon shots. I especially like the waxing crescent to first quarter phases. Albategnius is one my favorite craters. Have you seen the Lunar X & V formations?

Thanks Reggie, although those moon shots are screenshots from VMA tweaked in GIMP and Paint.NET. I've seen the X & Y. I got 337.5x tonight with the same scope and a 6mm Astro Hutech orthoscopic and a Baader 2.25x Q-Barlow. I observed for around 90 mins up until transit at 19:36 GMT.
