G'day folks, just saying hi - I'm Harry!
I've been doing some backyard astronomy in light flooded suburban Brisbane on and off for a couple of years, familiarizing myself with the southern skies and doing some visual observation with my 15x70 binos. Finally decided life is too short and pulled the trigger on a Williams Optics Star71-II and azeq6-gt earlier this year so looking forward to getting some snaps and maybe upgrading my visual set up. I only just stumbled upon this website when checking my local laws regarding 1-20mW laster pointers and was surprised it has never come up previously in any of my google searches. Anyway look forward to sharing the ride of celestial knowledge and learning with you all!

    Thanks fellas,
When I've had a bit more exposure time and practise I'll chuck up a review of the WO Star71-II. I'm a bit novice right now so need to make a bit of progress to know the difference between my many errors and an equipment fault.;)

    Hi Harry,

Glad you joined up and looking forward to your posts. I also live in light pollution in Miami, Florida. Yeah, it's bad, but planets aren't so much affected by the LP, and that's my area of interest.

Being so far South I am able to see quite a lot of the Southern sky from Everglades National Park at the tip of the peninsula. I have seen objects like the Eta Carina Nebula, The Wishing Well Cluster, etc. It's really impressive.
