About 6 months ago a longtime observing friend passed.
His son asked if I could come and inventory the observatory so spent a couple days last week getting everything together and putting prices to everything.

I ended up leaving with a full Vixen AXD mount and accessories.
It is a handful as the mount along weights 25 kg!
It has a 33 kg photographic load capacity and my heaviest telescope is 13 kg so I think it will be alright. ;)

I'm really sorry about the passing of your observing buddy.
I've lost several good friends lately, time keeps marching on at least their mount will be in good hands :)

    I appreciate the sentiment Jeff.
Last year was not a good one all around and my condolences to you.
I think it will be good to be observing with something he enjoyed using.

I set it up yesterday and you definitely do not want to stub your toes on it!
Without a telescope in place the complete mount weights 51 kg (112 lb)

It came with a Vixen AXD TR-102 aluminium tripod and the AXD-P85DX observatory pillar.
I have it set up for some Saturn / Jupiter viewing at the moment with the 152/1200 and it is solid as a rock!
With the telescope mounted the entire set up is 64 kg (140 lb)
The observatory pillar weights 24.5 kg on its own so I am not using it tonight!!

The legs on the aluminium tripod are thick aluminium round tube 5.5 cm diameter.
