This is my simple observation tonight with my 8" on the EQ5 with the precious tracking. I really love that telescope to look at the stars.

I just had the time to draw these 2 sketches while listening to some AM radio channels (there was nothing interesting to listen to on short waves) then the cloud covered the whole sky.

Comparing your Mars sketch to the view in Virtual Planet Atlas, you nailed it!

@Ed D Ah yeah? Ahh good to hear that! I really hope that we will have a bit more time to have good observations of Mars this year or before it's too small for a long time.

I am satisfied with my 2022 Mars experience. A short but memorable event.

I agree with Ed, Neb. You created a superb sketch, spot on. You've got a good eye and a steady hand. Do you do any artistic painting?

Thanks for your support ! :)

I've got a new sketch here from yesterday done with my 200x1000 Newtonian on Mars and using a Explore Scienific 4.7mm eyepiece and a Fujiyama 6mm with the Celestron Mars filter at 19:40 Montreal time.

The views were not that clear, only darker shades but with on/off resolution. According to my maps the upper darker spot could be Mare Acidalium + Nidacus Lacus. The bottom dark sport might be Sinus Meridiani + Sinus Sabaeus.

That is my best guess according to my guide images.

Nice sketch Neb, sketching is something I want to try in the new year.

And yes, it can be hard to find interesting things on SW nowadays, sometimes I just listen to WWV lol
