Does anybody know if retrograde will buy us any time viewing mars this year? I've had my scope for a couple weeks. I had to send my mount and I'm still waiting on a replacement/upgrade.

Mars always retrogrades around opposition. So I'm not sure you can say it will buy any more observing time than usual. At max, the disk is about 18.6". But even by July 21, two months from now, the disk is still 14" in diameter. So you still have lots of time to see it.
