Tonight was my first sighting of Mars in 2018.in fact what a line up Venus, Jupiter,Saturn and Mars in one night! Plus earth and the moon and some nocculant clouds too!Mars is really bright and came up after midnight brighter than Jupiter. I was armed with an 8x25 monocular and my big Russian 20x60 binoculars and got down in some sand dunes on the beach.even low down the disk of Mars was bigger than Jupiter's. As I'm at over 54.5 degrees north it never gets properly dark at this time of year yet still I was able to pluck out m11,m29,m39 with the 20x60s.I think that it is the first time I've seen nocculant clouds.
