I've been missing for a few days here, playing catch-up. And this thing is a <shudder!> WinDoze 10. I'll be learning Linux soon - obviously. And I need to get a Classic Shell up & running STAT! This thing is GROSS!

So bear with me! My other computer blew-up in my face and ain't coming back. I'm glad I'd just updated my external HD's before this anticipated suicide-of-computer took place!

    Send flowers.

    Dave

damn Ill be obligated to use spying 10 on my desktop at the job too soon. I don't want to think about this today it makes me angry a bit, but I wish you luck with this @Dave In Vermont.

Fortunately many people are involved in taming that OS with major privacy issues...

Unfortunately for classic shell it's no longer developed.. wonderful application, very good.

Dave, if you end up with Win 10, you might use something like this to what they call "immunize" some of the transponder activity. It's called Spybot Anti-Beacon (shareware)

Same developer, yes. Spybot anti-beacon is their tool to disable telemetry options in Windows.

Also, Reddit user 10se1ucgo developed a user-friendly program in Python that turns down telemetry and diagnostic services. Named DisableWinTracking, this system can be found for free on GitHub. Just search GitHub, it comes up and the script's documentation is extensive. Hey, I just noticed 19 bots are online here.......

Thanks for these information @ice_stars, this forum always has an amount of bots in the double digits for unknown reasons. I guess everything we write here is analyzed in some way by these bots for commercial purposes and commercial profiling.

I asked about windows 10 at the job too, apparently we will have the enterprise version, and now, the start menu is back in the new updates of this revision of windows 10. Apparently we can apply or remove updates too, if required, we can downgrade to previous version if we have bugs with our softwares.

    That's great news...

I was scared about the stability of AutoCAD with the mandatory windows updates.

I feel a bit better now..

@Dave In Vermont, how do you like the new computer except from Windows 10? It's another Laptop?

It's fine, and getting better as I merrily murder many default-settings. Just loaded Libre Office and Sumatra as defaults. And transferred almost all my Docs. onboard from the ExternalHD's I backed-up last week. Phew! Am I ever glad I did that! That saved my sanity!

It also goes to show I had a feeling this was coming.

Yes backup of the file is very important, I agree. I shall do it too during the week end, updating my 2 external hard drive with a copy of the same thing..

Libre Office that's what I use here. For personal use it's more then enough to do the job, to accomplish all my tasks Has a matter, I believe it's would be good enough for professional work too.
