We got about 50% of the sun eclipsed by the moon. Wasn't sure if I was going to see it at all with the thick cloud dominating the morning hours. By noon, the clouds began to move out. I took several shots, some at prime focus and some with the DSLR only. I'm posting the best two out of the bunch.

You can see a sunspot in this prime focus shot through my 127mm Mak:

Here is a shot using my Nikon D3200 with a 300x zoom lens:

Nice images, Reggie! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Didn't get to see any of this eclipse. Mother Nature was busy watering my lawn and ionizing the air for most of the day.

Do you use a solar filter on your DSLR lens when taking images?

You're welcome, Ed! Yes, I used a specially-made filter to fit over the lens. It gets a bit fiddly when trying to focus but it works pretty well. I used it for the total eclipse back in 2017.

Thanks, Gabby! I'm looking forward to the total eclipse in 2024 here in the States. It will be my second total in seven years. I was so focused on getting images last time that I plan to just enjoy observing the next one :)

Thanks, Reggie. I was pretty sure you use a filter when imaging the sun. I believe without a filter the DSLR sensor woud be fried to a crisp.

I have a small Baader white light filter I bought a few years ago from Agena that I use with my camera lenses as well as my 60mm and 85mm scopes.

Yes, and my eyes wouldn't fare too well either, lol. Here is the filter I used:
