I was surprised to hear today that Howie Glatter has passed away after a short illness. Howie was a craftsman and a keen and original thinker who made great contributions to amateur astronomy, especially to the art of collimating telescopes, that helped thousands get a better view of the night sky. I enjoyed speaking with him several times at NEAF over the years. He will be missed.

I never met him but the name is very well known around the world in amateur astronomy. I'm sad to hear he's passed away too.

The passing of a true pioneer. Worthy of a 21 laser-salute.

    He will be missed -
