Just been looking at a video of the solstice sun from Fairbanks Alaska.it rises and rolls along just above the horizon.today Fairbanks is a brutal -26c or -15f or 273k.. it's a similar latitude to rekjavik, Iceland, but way colder as rekjavik is 3c(above).obviously the gulf stream keeps up temperatures in Iceland.

Winter Solstice greetings from the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds in middle Georgia in the southeastern U.S. It's a balmy 50°F/10°C right now.

Not too dissimilar in the other Georgias at midday;tiblisi,ex USSR Georgia 8c/prince Edward point, South Georgia,6c..mind not too impressive for South Georgia give it's the beginning of the austral summer but then it lies just within the Antarctic convergence.
