I just learned about superhabitable planets from watching this episode of SciShow Space. Up until now I thought that if we were to find another habitable planet that it would be less so then earth with being equal to earth the most that could be hoped for.

Hum he didn't say anything about life itself.
At one time "they" were looking for ambient genesis here. Did they stop looking? Imagine the diversity of life that would be on a planet that has ambient genesis.

Nice presentation but it's pure 100% educated speculation. Science of the imagination... :D

Where would we be without it?

I was just watching some videos about eyeball planets. They are very interesting as well.

Interesting to watch but I have to agree with Scopejunkie.

We all agree then even the guy in the video and the 2 scientists that came up with the idea.
It kind of seems like you two are trying to gang up on me but not doing it very well o_O
It is part of the established scientific process that has worked plenty of times.

Not trying to gang up on you. I just prefer more real science than empty speculation. The problem with "science of the imagination" is that it can create a science that does not exist. It can be an imaginary tree with leaves and limbs but no root. The Ptolemaic universe was taught as true science in all the halls of higher learning for almost 2000 years yet it was nonexistent. I guess my point is that there is a lot of factless speculation in our current cosmological science.

Hypothesizing and speculation are the first steps. Like I said where would we be without them. No one has held up what was said as being true.
I am oppressively impoverished and forced to reside in a very bad place that does not even have a legitimate address. I know a lot about the evils of the establishment and they are not just things of the past.
Hey, are you referring to theoretical physics?

Sorry Donald, definitely not trying to gang up on you or knock your enthusiasm in any way. :)
I like my science to be more fact based and testable, but as I said the video was interesting to watch though there is really nothing said in it that has not been discussed for quite some time now.
A new video about old ideas.

Forgive me if I'm out in the "Twilight Zone." Without an existing baseline (habitable planet) it all remains theories based on other theories. A wobbly stack for sure just the Ptolemaic cosmos and the Aether wind. Some in science have used hypothetical words and pretty pictures, as smoke and mirrors, to convince others of their great cognitive insight.
