    I grew up in the 50's & 60's and I'm betting few things other than Apollo 11, brought about more public interest in our Space Program than this wonderful old song;

    And while I'm onto "influential music", I'd bet nothing- short of the '67 War, had more impact on American's favorable view of the State of Israel than this tune;

    I grew up listening to this instrumental music at a wonderful point in America's history, and thought to stir your memories. (Sorry, couldn't find a more appropriate forum.)

    Joe Meek was way ahead of his time. Incidentally, George Bellamy's son, Matt, is the vocalist in Muse and Knights of Cydonia is a tribute to Telstar.

    A lot of Muse's songs have space themes, Cydonia being the area on Mars with the supposed 'face'.

    Of course, not all their songs are so spaced out.

    Speaking of space investment .... Government launches £10 million scheme to incentivise the commercial spaceflight market.

    So, where's Skylon?

    Or was Dan Dare evaluating it and the Mekons stole it? lol

    Interesting music. I noticed the "cowboy" in the 1st one was riding an English saddle instead of a Western. :)

    Probably because he's English. I suppose it should have been a Martian saddle really lol. During the opposition last summer I could see the area Cydonia is in at times. Syrtis Major was also easily seen occasionally and I even saw the northern polar cap. I needed filters though, predominantly the Baader Neodymium and Wratten #11 and #82A.
