      3.0 Rather low contrast

      I have bought this eyepiece in preparation to the next opposition of Mars, to extract the maximum useful magnification from my SkyWatcher 5 inch Maksutov. I have compared it to the combination of Celestron 1.25" X-Cel LX Eyepiece used with 2x Barlow lens (looking at both Moon and Jupiter in perfect seeing). I am disappointed. The 6mm eyepiece produces a noticeably darker image with lower contrast. On Jupiter, there were bands that were visible using 12mm+2x Barlow but not with this 6mm eyepiece. While it is good enough for observing the Moon, it does not live up to the reviews I have seen. Hard to say whether this is a problem with the unit I've received or a general issue. The eye relief is of course comfortable as expected.
