Crosshair reticle illuminator
Pros: Cons: Comments:Fits perfectly on my Stellarvue EP. Illuminates very nicely at the lowest setting. Makes my 3 star alignments much easier and more accurate.

Nov 23, 2018Agena Cordless Illuminator for Reticle Eyepieces E-AG-CILL
Pros: Cons: Comments:I hunted this illuminator after misplacing mine for the Takahashi 11x70 finder. It fits perfectly and has a very smooth brightness control with an excellent range of brightness. The off click stop is precise and positive. Easy to replace LR44 batteries and very well constructed. Highly recommend this illuminator which was $90 less than the replacement Takahashi original

Apr 9, 2018I own three of them
Pros: Cons: Comments:I am an instrument builder, my current project is a classic spectroscope. It required illumination of the cross hair reticle and a back light for the slit jaws. I looked around but when I found the Agena and the references to the tap drill and tap so I could install them anywhere they were needed I knew I had my illuminators. I also assembled a 25mm illuminated reticle eyepiece and simply purchased another Agena. They all work as advertised and I am quite satisfied with their performance.

Mar 18, 2018Well lit.
Pros: Cons: Comments:A fine illuminator. I have a very nice reticle eyepiece (EP) that I needed an illuminator for, and several other illuminated EPs. I was able to take the other illuminators off and compare things and this one looked like the one that would fit. It does fit an illuminates perfectly well.

If you have one that looks like this, it might just have the right threads and be a good fit. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Mar 5, 2018Agena reticle illuminator
Pros: Cons: Comments:Fits well in Orion 20mm Illuminated Centering Telescope Eyepiece (#08239). Doesn't fit Celestron (RACI) Illuminated Finder and Orion Illuminated Finder Scope witch I own (they are after all not in list of tested reticle eyepieces). Good quality build, feels solid. I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

Feb 23, 2017Agena reticle illuminator
Pros: Cons: Comments:Works great. However, buyers should be aware that its not a perfect fit for ALL reticle units. But the construction is better than the illuminators that come with the stock illuminated reticles from Meade, Celestron & Orion. Happy with the product.

Jan 23, 2016Does the job
Pros:No
Cons:No
Comments:Well made, good value, and works as advertised. I coupled this Illuminator with my Meade Reticle Eyepiece. The Illuminator is a completely satisfactory replacement for the original stick illuminator on the Meade. The switch/dimmer on this Illuminator is of a larger diameter than the original on the Meade but I actually prefer the control size of this Illuminator.

Jul 4, 2015No more toy control knobs
Pros:Easy to Use,Fit Your Hand,Strong Construction,Rugged
Cons: Comments:Unlike some many other illuminators the control/switch of this one has a solid feel. With some many other's, the pot and switch within the unit are the smaller, light duty, wimpy version and are apt to very easily fail, as I have seen many. This unit uses a heavier duty, more rugged, larger pot and switch yielding better and longer service and smother control.

Mar 30, 2015A must have!

Oct 18, 2014Valuable add-on
Pros:Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons:Heavy
Comments:This reticle illuminator fits 2 different brands of illuminated reticle eyepieces I have. The construction is very robust and it appears reliable. it is a bit large and heavy compared to the plastic illuminators, but the metal construction is a big plus for longevity. I expect to have this for a long time.

Sep 1, 2013Perfect replacement
Pros:Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:I bought the Agena Cordless Illuminator to replace the one of a different brand that came with a 50mm right angle finder that I'd purchased. The original one worked intermittently because a solder point within the switch/rheostat disconnected and I couldn't resolder it to the aluminum case. The Agena illuminator is built more solidly , and its switch/rheostat feels very positive and smooth in its action -- very satisfied.

Jul 27, 2013Excellent illuminator
Pros:Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:Bought this to replace a faulty illuminator on a cross hair eyepiece from another supplier and it does the job perfectly, with a good range of illumination levels available. Excellent.

May 17, 2013Great illuminator in every respect
Pros:Build Quality,Strong Construction,Perfect Fit,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I recently bought a nice new (old stock) Celestron 7x50 finderscope with aperture for illuminator but this was not supplied. I measured the thread and hoped the Agena product would fit...I was not disappointed. It's a solid, well machined item, with a very positive on/off mechanism. It fits perfectly into my Celestron Polaris Finderscope (Japan made, probably by Vixen). Highly recommended.

Aug 22, 2012The Only one to buy!
Pros:Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:You cannot find a better illuminator. This illuminator is bright! Lights up the crosshairs perfectly. The adjustment control allows you to tweak the light to whatever variation of brightness you choose. Do not be fooled. Even though it looks idential to other ones on the market this one is nothing like the other ones on the market. This one does what it says it does.

Jun 29, 2012Excellent Replacment
Pros:Nicely machined,Strong Construction,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I purchased this illuminator to replace one on my polar finder which proved unreliable. This unit is very well made, threaded in perfectly, and has a nice range of brightness adjustment - and the price was excellent.

Jan 18, 2012Agena's Cordless Illuminator
Pros:Compact,Lightweight,Easy to Use,Accurate
Cons: Comments:Many eyepieces that are sold with illuminated reticles, are equipped with illuminators of poor quality. They often fail after just a few uses. Agena's reticle illuminator can be used as a direct replacement for the OEM-supplied unit. This illuminator has better machining and a higher build quality than most OEM units. I have used this one numerous times without a problem. The light is flicker-free and intensity can be controlled with the smoothly-operating mechanism.

Dec 27, 2011Very good illuminator
Pros: Cons: Comments:The click of this switch knob is slightly firm. Therefore, I rarely turn it on by mistake. And I can prevent the consumption of a useless battery. I experienced a problem not to sometimes turn on. The cause was because an electrode wire was not fixed with a solder. This is a very good illuminator if there is not this problem. Still I give a high evaluation point because this product is low-priced.

Sep 17, 2011Perfect, high quality product
Pros:Easy to Use,Strong Construction,Compact
Cons:None
Comments:Works absolutely perfect with my SV F-50 finder scope and SV 23mm illuminated reticle. Even illumination of crosshairs all the way to the edge of field. Brightness control very smooth and provides a continuous range of brightness. Solid METAL construction is strong, and has excellent build quality. If you need a replacement, this is the one to buy.
