Product Info
Manufacturer Description
Antares offers a premium illuminated reticle eyepiece that you can use for aligning or guiding your telescope at low to medium powers. The 1.25" Kellner 27mm eyepiece features an illuminated etched-glass reticle with a double cross-hair pattern. The helical focusing mechanism of the eyepiece allows you to obtain sharp focus of the crosshairs whether you wear glasses during use or not. The eyepiece also features threaded barrels, dust caps, slip-on eyeshield, and variable intensity illuminator. Requires LR-44 or equivalent batteries (included).
Weight = 5.3oz., Made in Canada.
Please note that a small number of dust particles between lenses is very common in this new item (as it is with most Antares eyepieces). However, these are not in the focal plane and are not visible when you focus the eyepiece. Plus, as this is a guiding eyepiece, this is really a non-issue from a practical perspective as well.

Just right for my scope.
Pros:Accurate,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I bought this for my 8" SCT as I previously had a lot of problems capturing stars for scope alignment. The laser finder that I have is excellent for pointing out stars in my light polluted yard with two street lights outside, and the 27 mm recticle eyepiece will show the same stars in the visual field for quick alignment. This also allows me to configure my 80 mm piggyback finder scope solely for autoguiding.

Pros:Excellent build quality,Excellent Performance,Great for Finderscope
Cons: Comments:A finderscope is an essential tool for locating deep-sky objects. So many finder scopes today don't include an illuminated reticle eyepiece, making them pretty well useless. And, most illuminated reticle eyepieces available for sale are short EFL types that are unsuitable for finder scopes. Enter the Antares 27mm illuminated reticle eyepiece. This eyepiece is perfectly suitable for use in a low power finderscope. I use mine with an 80mm f/4 achromat and it provides a wonderful wide field view with a lighted crosshair. The illumination intensity level is fully adjustable, making it ideal for locating faint deep-sky objects. Highly recommended accessory!
