A real winner
Pros:Great views, first rate construction, low price.
Cons:Small FOV - which is the nature of an Ortho.
Comments:I purchased this eyepiece for planetary observations. I already owned a 9mm plossl, but wanted to upgrade. I had researched many planetary eyepieces, finally going with this one due to the focal length, price, and the reputation. All the reviews I found were good. After I purchased the product I was not surprised.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
This is a very good eyepiece. The construction is first rate. It comes with a winged eye cup and end caps. The views are crisp, clear, and bright: sharp from edge to edge with no distortion nor chromatic aberration visible. It has produced some of the best views of Saturn and Jupiter I have ever observed.
It works well with both my Celestron standard barlow and my Celestron Ultima barlow. I have used this eyepiece with various scopes such as my 8" dob, my 90mm refractor, and my 2 small reflectors. It produced great views with all. It worked just as well with the fast f/6 dob as with the slower f/11 refractor.
As with any Ortho there is a limited FOV, but the image is good over the entire field. This is a great eyepiece that outperforms many more expensive eyepieces.Sort by
