Very nice for large or small scopes.
Pros:Average priced, above average quality.
Cons:Changes the color to a slight bluish tint.
Comments:I've used this on my ETX 125 (5") with amazing results - major improvement on contract and gives the stars a cool bluish tint. In my LX200GPS (12") the views are greatly improved. Galaxies and nebulae pop out from the dark sky (which without the filter is a gray sky like on full moon night). Highly recommended!
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesOct 26, 20071.25 Astronomik CLS Filter
Pros:Tough
Cons:Doesn't help with a 6" scope
Comments:The physical quality of this filter is very nice but I haven't had much luck with it. It may be because my scope is only a 6" but this filter darkens everything without any noticeable contrast enhancement. I've tried it when looking at multiple nebulae and galaxies, and it only makes them slightly dimmer and teal (the predominant passband color). I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a larger scope.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? NoAug 6, 20072" CLS filter
Pros:Excellent product; Worth every penny
Cons:Some may think it is pricey but it is not for its performance
Comments:Wish I would have tried this first! Solidly outperforms my Deep Sky, UHC/LPR and OIII filters on all objects. I use it on nebulas, galaxies and clusters from Phoenix's polluted skies and am very impressed. Actually seems to brighten the target while darkening the background. Makes the contrast pop. My OIII always darkens the target too much even with my 11", where the CLS enhances the target while darkening the background. Great warranty of 5 years on excellent coatings
