A well known and great book.
Pros:A great book for beginners and seasoned astronomers alike
Cons:none
Comments:If you put together a top 10 list of the most recommended books for the amateur (and not so amateur) astronomer you'll likely find this book on that list. It's one of the greats for sure, and rightfully so. It's a great guidebook with around 100 objects listed for small telescopes (2"-3" range), as well as moon and planet info.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
While designed for new space explorers in mind it's also a nice book for seasoned astronomers as well. It offers very useful information and is truly a good read/reference book for all. The charts are very well written, easy to follow, and the view descriptions are accurate and helpful.
It's been around since 1989 and it's been highly praised ever since, and for good reason. It's simply an awesome tool for learning how to find objects in the sky, and more importantly what you can expect to see once you do locate the object.
Not only will it tell you where to look, what to expect, but also useful comments describing the object and methods of viewing it. Also some general history and information is given for the objects. A very nicely put together book all around. And clocking in around 200 pages you'll find it's well worth the price and highly recommended to all.Sort by
