Manufacturer Description
GSO's 1.25" 3x ED Barlow is the perfect choice when you need more magnification than the common 2x barlows will provide. This barlow uses two-element, fully-multicoated lenses made from special ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass for excellent color correction and sharpness. The clear aperture is 24mm and the lower end of the barlow cell is threaded to accept standard 1.25" filters. The body is precision CNC-machined from aluminum and sports a handsome finish that you would usually find on much higher priced items.
You can unscrew the barlow element and use the upper tube as a 1.25" extension tube to provide 79mm (3.11") of extension . However, because the upper end of the 3x barlow cell (that connects to the barlow tube) uses a non-standard thread, you cannot attach the barlow element directly to other eyepieces like you can do with the GSO 1.25" 2x barlow.
Note that the use of any optical element like barlows and focal reducers changes the focus point of your telescope, requiring additional in-focus or out-focus travel. The exact amount of focus travel required will depend on the optics and mechanics of your specific set-up (telescope, diagonal (if used), barlow, and eyepiece). Hence, be aware that you may not be able to reach focus with all eyepieces or in all configurations with a given barlow.

Solid performer at good price
Pros: Cons: Comments:Bought to use with my zwo planetary camera. Has worked great and feels solidly constructed. There looks to be some slight color fringing at edges but at this price you can't go wrong. Definitely recommend. Also Agena in general is an awesome place to buy.

Aug 15, 2014Nice Barlow but long and heavy
Pros:Strong And Great Optics,Strong Construction,Quality Lenses
Cons:Heavy And Really Long
Comments:This barlow works really well but it is good 5" long and heavy. This should not be a problem for Large Dobs but for smaller telescopes it can cause balance issues. You can unscrew the lens and also use this as extension tube.

Aug 24, 2013Quiet ED
Pros:Compact,Lightweight,Quality Lenses,Easy to Use,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Not much to say! This Barlow does what it is supposed to do, and does it quite well. I feel that the images are pretty bright, not dimmed very much as is normally expected in a Barlow. Had no real issues with this product; cost effective and good quality.

Jun 10, 2009Excelent quality SemiAPO (ED) Barlow
Pros:Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:Very nice SemiAPO (ED) Barlow adapter with, strong all-metal construction (feel having a value in hands), very nice sharp images with no false colors when combined with good eyepiece, no field distortion noticed, real multicoated for the best light transmission. Very good for seekers of high magnifications without image quality compromises, especially for fast scopes. Lens cell can not be used alone for direct connection to eyepiece nose due to bigger cell thread diameter, but this is not main function problem.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
And you can not beat the price with other Barlow. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
