Not useful
Pros:Fully multicoated; Bargain price; First rate construction.
Cons:Not a useful EP. Views are marginal at best.
Comments:I bought this product when I first started observing. I was looking for a good finder eyepiece at a decent price. Since I had previously purchased equipment from this company and was satisfied with the price and service, I turned to them again.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? No
Construction was first rate. The EP had the fit and look of a much more expensive occular. It has a very large eye lens, and is listed as fully multi coated. If only its performance was as good.
Views were acceptable at best. Curvature was very noticeable even with my F8 reflector. The FOV seemed somewhat restrictive for the focal lenth, and the contrast was bland. A major problem was the difficulty I expericned in positioning my eye due to excessive eye relief. When not just right "blackouts" occurred. On the plus side, glare and ghosting was almost non-existent.
I gave up on the eyepiece after a few months and purchased a 32MM GTO plossl. It was a great improvement.
I would not recommend this EP even at the bargain price.Sort by
