"You get what you pay for"
Pros:Sharp, clear, bright views. Low cost. Works well with fast scopes.
Cons:Excessive glare with slow scopes. Inferior coating.
Comments:I purchased this eyepiece in a combo set with 2 other GTO eyepieces and a Celestron standard barlow to upgrade the poor eyepieces that came with my starter scope approximately 5 yrs ago.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The look and fit of this eyepiece is a bit better than what you would expect from an economy model. Not bad, just a bit below an Orion Sirius eyepiece. Holding the EP on edge reveals a blue hue to the fully coated optics - this usually points to inferior material used in the coating.
The views are bright and clear, very sharp with much color contrast. No visible distortion of any type was noticeable when used with a slower scope such as an F8 reflector. However, in a faster scope of approx F6, I began to notice some glare. This would stop with the use of a filter (when appropriate) or a barlow (when possible). I have used this EP with an F4 reflector observing very little chromatic aberration.
