      5.0 light blue color filter

      Pros:

      Enhances viewing, low cost, quality

      Cons:

      None

      Comments:

I recently bought the light blue filter to use with my 80mm achromatic refractor. We have great views of Jupiter from our front yard and have spent a lot of time enjoying the planet. Without the filter the planet is so bright we could only make two bands at the most. With the filter we can see many more bands and a great amount more detail. This is a quality product that comes in its own case. A great buy.

      5.0 Hirsch (Technotronics) Color Filters - 1.25"

      Pros:

Quality glass, nice twist single cases that are easy to see through, great performance

      Cons:

Nothing bad - Hirsch makes quality filters

      Comments:

My 1.25" Hirsch Color Filters came with a Meade DSI-C imager deal on ebay. And I have been impressed with each Hirsch color filter I have used. The light transmissions through each filter have been a great help during my visual and imaging use.

These filters make Saturn and Jupiter show much more detail and improved contrast than without a filter. Although they look like any other brand of color filters, these Hirsch color filters seem to have a better transmission rates than some of the other brands I have used. All Hirsch color filters come with a single twist case, which is much better than the single pop top cases.

My favorite Hirsch filter would be the #47. This single filter shows twich the contrast when viewing Saturn's rings and surface detail and Jupiter's belts and the Red Spot because of the special transmission it has. It's not the #47H which is a very dark voilet filter (which is great on Venus and a full Moon). Hirsch filters also show improved image resolution of some nebulas and star clusters, about a 10%-20% improvement.

All in all, I would recommend this set of Hirsch color filters for any size telescope. They do wonders and for a great price too!
