Manufacturer Description
Astro Aimer G3 has all the features of Astro Aimer Gen II and the same dimensions and appearance of Astro Aimer Gen II. In addition, new Astro Aimer G3 is dust and water resistant with redesigned internal construction and an anti-reflection coated optical glass window to optimize its outdoor applications.
Water Resistant for Broader Applications
Now you can take your Astro Aimer anywhere, including the dewiest of star parties. It's perfect for camping, hiking and rafting. Use it in the rain, or for any emergency situation in almost any environment. Astro Aimer's green laser is perfect for pinpointing star locations as well as any other pointing needs. The two-color LED flashlight is ideal for any indoor and outdoor illumination. Its multi functions make Astro Aimer a very useful tool for astronomers, educators, hikers, campers, any outdoor goers, rescuers, law enforcement, military, CSI laser investigation tools and many others.
Factory Tuned High Output Green Laser with Automatic Power Control Circuit
True 5mW high power green laser, 532nm wavelength. Green laser is 20 times brighter than red laser at the same output power as perceived by human eyes. The extremely visible green laser line allows an audience in about 3 meter radius around you to clearly trace the laser line to the intended star. The Astro Aimer G3 has a built-in feedback circuit that constantly monitors the laser output power to keep it stable. The control allows the laser to operate stably under cold or warm ambient temperatures.
Laser ON Light Indicator
When the laser is turned on, a blue LED light under the laser switch glows dimly to signal you the device is on, so you will not accidentally point the laser to others or yourself.
Variable Brightness Modes Red LED
There are total of 3 brightness modes. Low and intermediate modes are for map reading. High brightness mode (4,000 mcd) is for night illumination without disrupting other stargazers' dark-adapted vision. Red-light modes are activated by turning front flashlight bezel to the left.
3 Highly Efficient White LEDs
Three white LEDs provide true color and bright illumination (apx. 21,000 mcd total), the best tool for packing up, searching for lost items, identifying colored items, and field illumination. Activate the white light by turning front flashlight bezel to the right.
The HoTech Astro Aimer G3's voltage regulated power control circuit keeps both Red and White LEDs performing at a constant brightness. The circuitry keeps the LEDs operating at maximum brightness until a minimum voltage cut off point (4 volt). LED brightness does not decay according to the battery drain as with the other battery powered flashlights.
In addition, you may turn ON either of the LED flashlights in combination with the activated green laser to pin point an illuminated object. This feature is useful especially when the object is large, which requires additional lighting for better visual confirmation.
Knurled LED Flashlight Switch Control
The knurled flashlight cap can be easily operated with a thick glove on a cold night. Also distinguishable detentes identify each light mode to help you operate in the dark.
Easy Telescope Aiming Adjustment
The HoTech Astro Aimer G3's time delayed laser switch frees both hands for telescope aiming without having to hold the laser ON button as with other green pointers.
Universal Mounting
1" diameter fits most existing 6x30 finder scope mounts. No mount is included with this item.

Green Laser and Flashlight—A Good Combo
Pros: Cons: Comments:I purchased the HoTech Astro Aimer G3 - Green Laser and Flashlight, even though I already had several green lasers, several red flashlights, and several white flashlights. Having all three in one package is wonderfully convenient!

Feb 4, 2016HoTech Astro Aimer G3 Green Laser and Flashlight
Pros:Adjustable Beam,Durable,Bright
Cons: Comments:I use the Astro Aimer G3 primarily when setting up and taking down the telescope and binoculars for the evening.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The variable 3-position red led brightness levels are very useful for keeping track of items and setting up in total darkness.
The white led does a great job for use as a flashlight. The well-defined green laser assists in pointing out features in the night sky. Overall, an excellent light that combines white and red led's and a green laser in a well-designed package. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Sep 27, 2013Good, Bad and Ugly
Pros:Adjustable Beam,Durable,Waterproof
Cons:Poor Laser
Comments:Good - Unsurpassed build quality, feels solid to use, white light and adjustable red light work very well for astronomy use.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? No
Bad - Turning the front lens to turn on the white and red lights is a 2 hand operation because the action is very stiff. I prefer the cheaper red astro light I already have because I can turn it on with one hand which is helpful at night when holding astro gear or charts.
Ugly - When the temperature starts to cool, the laser stops functioning. I have to put it back in my pocket and warm it up with my hands, then I get a few seconds use from it again before the laser fails once more. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Sep 19, 2012Wish I had bought this long ago.
Pros:Well Thought Out Design,Replaced Several Tools
Cons: Comments:This sure streamlind the things I carry when taking the telescope out for observing the night sky. The laser is cleaner and clearer than the laser pointer I had used before. This unit is well thought out and looks very expensive and high-tech, definitely not a toy and it seems that HoTech doesn't skimp on quality. I wish I had seen this model long ago when I first bought a laser pointer for astronomy.

Dec 9, 2009Excellent gizmo
Pros:Compact,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:Nice positive switch for the LED red/white, with good illumination red brightness levels. Much better than my Celestron red-only flashlight with a difficult to use thumbwheel. The laser seems good, although I don't have any comparator. And nice rugged feel to the unit as a whole.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesThis review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Apr 3, 2009Very useful - well designed
Pros:Accurate,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This proved itself to be a well-designed, all-purpose light that I suspect will be my constant observing companion.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Here what I really like about it:
* The white beam is powerful enough to light up the work area and path for setting up, cleaning up and going back and forth to the house.
* There are two red beams. One is powerful enough to work by without destroying your night vision - the other is significantly weaker, but just right for reading charts.
* The laser is turned on by one button , turned off by a second - and when on the switch area glows very dimly so you know the laser is on. As for the beam itself it is easily as good as my best other laser which now is mounted on a small scope as a finder/pointer.
* To turn on the red light you twist the bulb end of the flashlight to the left. To turn on the white light, you twist it to the right. This is significantly different and well-separated from the buttons for the laser, so you shouldn’t confuse them.
The whole thing seems well built, comes with a nice carrying case, and a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck. I found this last extremely handy. With the white light on it lit my path while leaving my hands free to carry stuff. I also found that even in my small observatory, where I have a red light on a dimmer switch, it was easier, in most instances, to reach for the one around my neck and I did this frequently - and it meant I could direct the light exactly where I needed it.
Very handy! This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
