Leupold Wind River 10x50s
Pros:Great optics, armored & waterproofed, excellent build
Cons:Maybe a touch expensive for a 10 power binocular.
Comments:On the night of July 31 - 1 August, the night sky here on the East Coast was free of clouds and perfect for some bino viewing. I had a chance to use a pair of these very good binoculars for the night.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The 10 power are at the limit, I believe, for extensive hand holding and this pair did fit that bill. They are borderline expensive at $225, but for astronomy purposes they work just fine. Nice eye relief of 18mm and a field of view of 5.5 degrees make for wide angle viewing, especially to find clusters. They are armored and waterproofed and weigh only 2 pounds.
In viewing Jupiter the views were excellent. The contrast was very sharp, with minimum color. The optics were, in my opinio,n excellent and the stars were sharp almost to the viewing edge. Clusters were very bright and easy to view, with nice black backgrounds. I liked these binos and do recommend them. They come with a nice case and caps and it can be placed on a tripod if needed.Sort by
