      5.0 Great for lunar observations

      Pros:

      Strong Construction,Quality Lenses,Lightweight

      Cons:

      Comments:

I bought the #12 Lumicon filter to test it as a chromatic aberration reducing filter for achromats. The filter completely removes the purple fringing found in achromats. For lunar and planetary observations it sharpens the view allowing much higher magnifications to be used with only some residual red CA present. The purple fringe is gone. Obviously the Moon will appear yellow. For deep sky observations it sharpens star images making it easy to get sharp focus at high magnifications, but with noticeable dimming of nebulous light - but still much better than the unfiltered view that is marred with CA. Works great with an 82A for some extra pop on lunar features.
