Manufacturer Description
The Lunt Zoom Eyepiece # LS7-21ZE offers ideal magnifications for the standard focal lengths of Lunt H-alpha solar telescopes. It's an ideal 'first look' eyepiece that allows you to quickly view the Sun at a lower magnification, then zoom to higher magnification to see interesting details.
The focal length of this 1.25" eyepiece ranges from 7.2 mm to 21.5 mm with graded markings at focal lengths of 7.2mm, 10mm, 13.5mm, and 21.5mm. The power change ring on the eyepiece features a ribbed gripping surface that makes it easy to make small power changes between these ranges, even when wearing gloves.
The optics in the eyepiece consists of 7 multi-coated lens elements in 4 groups for clear, crisp images. The apparent field of view ranges from 40 degrees at 21.5mm to 60 degrees at 7.2mm. Eye relief is a comfortable 15mm and the barrel is threaded for standard 1.25" filters when the eyepiece is used for general non-solar observing.
While designed for solar observing with a Lunt solar telescope, this eyepiece can also be used for general terrestrial or night-time observing with a non-solar telescope. (Note: For safe solar observation, this eyepiece MUST be used with a solar telescope equipped with safe solar filters).
The Lunt Zoom Eyepiece is great little eyepiece at an affordable price.

Great Eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:So far this eyepiece has worked out really well with my 90mm Coronado Solarmax II. Great range and great views in one convenient, small and lightweight package. I originally had purchased a Baader Hyperion Zoom for this scope but I like this one better. Works great on night time targets as well. Excellent value, highly recommended.

Jun 28, 2017Good EP
Pros: Cons: Comments:Only beef I have is that at the lowest power the FoV is cut off before the field stop, making for a fuzzy edge. Other than that it's very sharp across the field and well built. Zoom is very smooth and easy.

Jun 10, 2017Excellent little zoom eyepiece
Pros: Cons: Comments:Got this to use with my Lunt Solar scope and it gives great images at all focal lengths. You do have to tweak the focus a little as you zoom in or out, but the images are excellent for the price. I've also used it on my 12" Dob and it's fun to zoom in on Jupiter or bright deep sky objects like M13.

May 9, 2017Lunt 1.25" 7.2-21.5mm zoom
Pros: Cons: Comments:The Lunt Zoom eyepiece is wonderful and so very convenient. One eyepiece that allows multiple magnification is sweet! You may need to adjust the focus as you move through the different levels, but well worth it. I've been concentrating on Jupiter recently and the viewing has been very crisp. Solar detail has been crisp as well. The image is very clear with little to no warping near edge of view. Excellent eye relief. Works equally well in my solar scope and refractor (120mm). I recommend this eyepiece! 5 stars and a planet or 2.

Feb 20, 2015Lunt Zoom Eyepiece
Pros:Easy to Use,Accurate,Quality Lenses,Strong Construction
Cons: Comments:This is an excellent zoom eyepiece. I use it regularly on my Sun observing telescopes now, with solar filter of course. Also can be used for regular night sky telescope observing. It doesn't have click lock for the different focal lengths but I like that better.

Aug 23, 2014The best EP in my collection
Pros:Easy to Use,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:I purchased this EP to use with my solar scope but now I use it with all of my scopes. It is very easy to use and has decent optics. The variable zoom eliminates the need to bring different EP's to the field.
