Meade 395 f/11 OTA
Pros:Nice high power views; Use as a guide scope; Views are sharp and color free.
Cons:Quality can be spotty; Poor focuser; Useless finder scope
Comments:This is a 90mm f/11 achromat that is no longer available, unless on the secondary market or occasionally on Ebay. It has a 3.5" multicoated objective and a simple rack and pinion focuser that takes 1.25" eyepiece and accessories.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The views are pretty much color free, as it should be on a long focal length achromat, and it does a good job on most solar system and deep sky objects. Stick with quality eyepieces and you should get some very sharp and contrasty views. Forget the finder scope and the shaky EQ mount. The front lens cell screws off permitting the removal of the supplied tube rings.
This is a nice scope to have around when you want to do some high power viewing....also good for use as a guide scope. Be aware that quality control can be an issue with many Meade scopes, but I have one that's very good and it's a keeper.Sort by
