      5.0 Pentax 10x50

      Pros:

Excellent sharp image all the way to edge of FOV.

      Cons:

As perfect a 10x50 binocular as I can imagine unless you spend $300+ more

      Comments:

I have been using these for last 6 months. They feature excellent construction. I really like the locking focus knob and like the positive clicking detent clicks on the right diopter.

The optics are excellent..they are sharp ALL the way to the edge on both daytime and nighttime targets. Daytime images are just stunning...clear and sharp. Nighttime moon and star views are excellent with little flaring. These are good for hand-held use. I also use the Pentax 20x60 and reviewed these separately.

      5.0 Pentax PCF 10 X 50 binoculars

      Pros:

Great low power binocular, right eye diopter check stop which is very nice.

      Cons:

      Costly at $180 plus.

      Comments:

Here in New Jersey on 8/13/07, the skies were super clear and two friends and I sat in my backyard and compared binoculars. One of the binoculars used was the Pentax PCF 10x50. Of the three pairs used (mine were the Orion Worldview 10x50 and the Orion Mini Giant 9x63), I liked this Pentax binocular the best.

It showed excellent stars out almost to the edge. Maybe the last 10% was somewhat less sharp but still well worth the view. The stats are: Cost $185.00 new, multicoated BAK4 optics, weight 31 oz approximately, and a very nice right eye diopter stop check. The Pentax showed a black background and was the best of the three. It was a real pleasure to use. The Pentax and the Orion Mini Giant are $180 plus and the Orion WorldView was under $40.00 so my friends were not in any rush to continue to use my binoculars. I'm beginning to like the Pentax line of binos if I can afford them. Also the FOV seem as good as the 9x63s but I couldn't check that out. Comes with a soft case, decent strap and caps.
