Manufacturer Description
A Must for Rich Field and Fast Newtonians & Dobsonians - Rigel System's Aline 1.25" Collimation / Alignment Cap
Look into your telescope through an Aline and you see a bright white circle surrounding the image of your eye's pupil, making it easier to center the primary and secondary mirrors, which is especially important for aligning rich field and fast Newtonian and Dobsonian telescopes.
Thousands of Alines are in use around the world (yes, thousands) since Rigel Systems introduced the first retro-reflector collimation eyepiece in 1995. Simple in design, Aline uses an ultra-reflective microprism retroreflector and the light gathered by your telescope to produce a brighter image than "classical" cheshires or even so called "reflective" cheshires (which are retroreflector collimation eyepieces -- not cheshires) that use less reflective microsphere retroreflectors.

Works particularly well
Pros: Cons: Comments:After spending some time comparing this tool to others in my tool box, I've really come to appreciate the fact that this tool "self centers" because of the way it press-fits into the focuser. This makes the tool's placement extremely repeatable.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The reflective surface is very bright, even at night with a red flashlight.
I like the simplicity of this tool, and the simple, clean "dot" the hole presents in the reflection of the typical notebook reinforcement ring primary mirror center marker. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
Feb 15, 2019Aline collimation cap
Pros: Cons: Comments:These caps are almost impossible to find, but they are a quick, easy, inexpensive device for collimating Newtonian reflectors. Works well. Very satisfied with Agena's service and prices.

Jan 16, 2019Simple is sometimes best
Pros: Cons: Comments:Works well on my 10 inch Dobson. Paired with a Cheshire with sighting tube works well for collimating a reflector.

Sep 3, 2018one of the most useful,
Pros: Cons: Comments:one of the most useful, simplistic, and effective ways to teach people new to Newtonians how to collimate. I have bought several over the years just for that reason. The last two both went to newbies a bit intimated by the process and both immediately grasped the principle.

Dec 4, 2017Simple, Inexpensive, Effective
Pros: Cons: Comments:This is an accessory everyone should have to easily collimate a scope. It's easy and quick to learn how to use it and your scope can be operating at top performance in no time. In fact, it's a good idea to use right before every observation session, just to make sure everything is properly aligned. I'll always keep one in my eyepiece case!

Jul 14, 2017Rigel Systems Aline 1.25" Telescope Alignment Eyepiece / Collimat
Pros: Cons: Comments:This Collimation Cap is everything you can expect - nothing fancy, but well made and a perfect fit. The reflective insert makes it very easy to see without a whole lot of light. I'm using it on my 6" StarHopper Newtonian to replace the one lost by the prior owner.

May 26, 2017collimation cap
Pros: Cons: Comments:A most simple yet accurate way to collimate a newt. The inside of the cap is lined with a 'white' background making it easy to see and align in daylight to dusk conditions.Every 'newt' owner should have one in his/her toolbox.

May 6, 2017A practical collimation device for Newtonian telescopes.
Pros: Cons: Comments:Don't be fooled by the simplicity of this collimation device. It is well made and accurate. Ideal for centering your diagonal mirror under your focuser and if your primary mirror is accurately center spotted does an excellent job of aligning both elements of the optical path. Tested on my GSO 10" Dob with excellent results and checked along side a well known brand of Cheshire/sight tube collimation device. Very useful and highly recommended. Agena , great outfit to deal with for your Astronomy needs. William

Feb 25, 2017Worked for me
Pros: Cons: Comments:Though the instructions could have been easier, this beginner collimated a Celestron Powerseeker 127 for the first time fairly easily.

Feb 4, 2016Just what I was looking for
Pros:Lightweight,Compact,Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I have a hybrid Jones-Bird Newtonian telescope (with a small barlow lens mounted inside the focuser tube). In short, this makes it quite difficult to accurately collimate. After doing some research online, I came across this nifty, cheap, but well-made collimation cap. It is simple and easy to use, and allows much more accurate collimation than what I was able to get previously.

Jan 30, 2015Simple, inexpensive alignment tool.
Pros:Easy to Use,Compact,Lightweight
Cons: Comments:Although these alignment tools usually come with Newtonian telescopes, if you've lost yours, this is an excellent and inexpensive replacement.

Jan 25, 2014Inexpensive and effective
Pros:Easy to Use
Cons: Comments:I have mine do double duty as a dust cap on my dobsonian. It is in position, then, for a quick check of the scope's collimation after taking it afield and setting up.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? No
Get your primary tilt close with the Rigel Aline, then do a star test for the final tweak. This review was provided courtesy of AgenaAstro.com
