Manufacturer Description
The 32mm Plossl, with its larger 50° apparent field, will deliver the same true field as the 40mm but with higher magnification. The 32mm is parfocal with the shorter focal length Plossls.
Since TeleVue introduced their Plossls in 1980, they have won praise and patents, including a patent in Japan. Tele Vue Plossls, designed by Al Nagler, have been a recognized benchmark of performance and value in the class of 50° apparent field of view eyepieces. While the Plossls may be Tele Vue's least expensive eyepiece line, they still enjoy the same care and attention to detail as their most expensive. While it's easy for other manufacturers to vie for the lowest price, Tele Vue continues to believe that quality, performance and consistency will ultimately reward you with the most value for your dollar.
Diffraction limited "on-axis" performance is a given. Using more expensive high-index glasses to reduce astigmatism and lateral color at the field's edge, Tele Vue Plossls deliver sharper images than any other brand of 4 or 5 element Plossls or Orthoscopic designs. The faster the focal ratio of your telescope, the greater your visual reward for using Tele Vue eyepieces. Tele Vue Plossls feature full multicoatings for greatest light transmission and contrast. Blackened lens edges and internal anti-reflection threads tweak the last bit of contrast for maximum image detail. The sharper field focuses faint star light into perceptible points and allows those with undriven mounts to gaze longer before repositioning the image.
For a bit more than generic brands, you can own genuine Tele Vue Plossls

Televue quality
Pros: Cons: Comments:Though this range of eyepieces are TV,s bottom line the quality and standard of fit and finish are right up there with the higher cost eyepieces they sell, however it is reflected in the price. Similar style eyepieces can be bought for less but not quite up to TV standards.

Apr 14, 2017crystal clear veiwing.
Pros: Cons: Comments:bought it because I needed a lower power eyepiece with a good wide viewing area. Was not disappointed! It is crystal clear and comfortable to look through. As always, arrived quickly and undamaged, Agena's "batting 1000" with me.

Dec 29, 2016Another great TeleVue
Pros: Cons: Comments:The 32mm Plossl is a very well made, useable eyepiece for wide field views. I use it a lot with TeleVue refractors and an old Celestron 5 telescope. It has great color, contrast, and a well corrected edge of field. It's one of my favorites and a bargain at the price. Agena service and shipping is first rate as well.

Jun 29, 2015Must Have 32mm Televue
Pros:Easy to Use,Compact,Quality Lenses
Cons: Comments:This is such a good eyepiece. You can spend more for wider FOV but you can't hardly do better with the views for the price. I use this in my 8" SCT with a .63 reducer for DSO visual use. I hardly ever change eyepieces because this combination is so good. It is about 43X and a little over a degree field. Without the reducer, I get 64X and about .75 degree which is still a good combination for many Messier objects. This eyepiece has great contrast, excellent edge performance and doesn't tax any scope being 1.25" and light. Highly recommended!

Dec 8, 2009OLD 32mm TV
Pros:Works perfect the way it should
Cons:Maybe price of the new ones, Hard to find the old ones
Comments:I have the old version of this eyepiece. It works great in my f5.9. I love this entire series of these old TV plossl. This one is great in every aspect. Just missing an eyeguard like the rest of them.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Cant say anything bad about these, maybe the price of the new ones, but you can pick them up for $65 used.Jul 3, 2007Televue Plossl 32mm
Pros:Top quality and excellent customer serivce
Cons:Pricey at $110.00 each
Comments:This is one rather large, excellently made plossl. As I use a binoviewer I needed two of them. At over $100 each it was an investment for me but these are very high quality eyepieces. The stats are: focal length 32mm, barrel size 1.25", apparent FOV 50 degrees, field stop dia: 27.0mm, eye relief 18mm, 4 elements and the weight is 0.5 lbs. Stars are pinpoint almost all the way out - I'd say 90% at least. The glass quality is superb and, in my opinion, is the highest quality plossl on the market today. It comes in a plastic screw case, with caps at both ends.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? YesJun 30, 2007Great Plossl but pricey
Pros:Excellent quality, great light through-put
Cons:Pricey, eye placement is a bit tough to figure out
Comments:I had the 32mm Televue Plossl for about a year and used it in an F8 scope, an F10 SCT, and an F5 Short Tube 80. I have also had other brands of plossls, and the Televue did perform very well and had better workmanship than the other brands. It also had great performance even in the F5 scope, but keep in mind this is a very low magnification eyepiece. The other plossls I have owned have been in the 25mm to 10mm range. Other brands are not as pricey and can perform well enough, although perhaps slightly behind the Televue.... and I mean SLIGHTLY.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I never saw much difference in edge sharpness between the different brands of plossls, and the light through-put was good in all of them. The Orion Highlight series is a good brand of relatively inexpensive plossls that are well made and have great performance.
The 32mm Televue is a rather large plossl with a large top lens near your eye.... it can be a little difficult figuring out the best place to put your eye, but it does give a HUGE field of view for a 1-1/4 inch eyepiece. The AFOV is the usual 52 or so degrees, which is standard for a true plossl (i.e., only 4 elements).
All in all, the Televue is a bit pricey but has a well deserved reputation for quality. I feel the plossl line of Televue eyepieces is their most fair-priced eyepiece line and certainly worthing of consideration. If your budget is tight, then go for the Orion Highlights.Sort bySpecifications
