A Versatile, Lifetime Telescope
Pros: Cons: Comments:While I'm new to amateur astronomy, I've been serious about photography for 30+ years. I know the value of quality optics, and wanted to avoid buying a telescope that would leave me wanting for the "next level." I also wanted a scope that's portable, easy to set up in next to no time, and will offer me (in good time) the ability to take quality astro photos, as well as being a top-notch telephoto lens for terrestrial subjects.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Based on my experience so far, the TV-85 delivers all this.
The build quality is exceptional. It's so nice to buy an American-made product based on merit, and not just because it's "Made in USA." True, I had to adjust my budget, and make some sacrifices to afford its premium price, but in the end, I'm sure it will be with me for many years.

Pros: Cons: Comments:Tele Vue 85's are a little expensive, but you get a lot for your money. The scope has a sharp, clear image.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
I noticed that on my first DSO I viewed. Double stars are beautiful. The Orion Nebula was very clear.
I was not overly impressed with the views of Jupiter but they were ok. I was surprised that the view of
the Ring Nebula was so good. I can hardly wait to view Saturn with the scope.
The sliding dew shield and the screw on lens cap are very nice. I really liked the Everbright 2 inch diagonal.
I especially liked the focuser. It is the only telescope I own that has 2 thumb screws to hold the diagonal.
No more dropping the diagonal and eyepiece on the ground.
I thought the focuser was very smooth.
I also did not notice any CA or purple fringing while viewing.
I would purchase this scope again If I did not already have one.
A Tele Vue Nagler 3 -6 Zoom is nice eyepiece to have with it. Excellent for birding and viewing
