A classic
Pros:Razor sharp images, nice relief
Cons:Only own one...
Comments:We got one of these back in '95, along with a lot of the other sizes. We still use it at some point every night we get to view.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
Been using it with an old Meade 395 and it really works quite well. Sharp views with a decent fov. I've never had any problems with it. Works well with a Barlow pulling about 190x in her 1000mm FL scope.
Lately I've had the chance to use it on my new 8" dob and I must say it's quite a looker. Now I've got to track down one of my own cause she won't give it up. LOL
Always a fav of mine. Recommended.Aug 5, 200910.5mm TV Plossl
Pros:Nice contrast, oozes quality (old plossl line)
Cons:FOV but it's a high mag plossl
Comments:I must say that this is a very nice little performer. It's my favorite as far as bringing out contrast in items, especially planets. Eye relief is tight but it's a high mag plossl. FOV is clear edge to the edge. Nice one if you can find it - it's a keeper for me.

Pros:Extremely well made, no false color even when barlowed.
Cons:Discontinued, hard to find on the used market.
Comments:This is the last of the four discontinued Televue plossls that I had the chance to use and review. I found this 10.5mm to be the most interesting, not only because of the 0.5mm increment that was used to make it but how well it did on DSOs and clusters.

Even with an eye relief of only 7mm the light transmission was very acceptable with excellent views. It had very sharp and contrasting views, with excellent color correction and I was very impressed with this small plossl. The 11mm plossl has since replaced this eyepiece. I recommend using the Orion winged eye cup on these eyepieces as they don't have a rubber eye guard. This will help block any ambient light. With the smooth sides that the barrel has you have to take care to secure them in the diagonal.
The eyepiece barlows well and is worth the money if you can find it on the used market. I found that I was surprised that there was no false color at all, even when barlowed. I viewed in the southern sky last night 11 of the Messier objects and was gratified at the results when using this plossl even with a barlow. Go ahead and divide 10.5 by two :-) These may be old but the multicoated glass is excellent and these are very well made in Japan.Sort by
