WOW, what a view
Pros:Amazing glass, awesome views, accepts 2x or 4x power mates with incredible detail, beautiful solid build quality, made in Japan
Cons:HEAVY…you need a good mount
Comments:I have used many TV eyepieces over the years from Naglers, Panoptics, Radians and Widefields
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
This 40mm Widefield is something special. Using it in any scope I have had yields amazing views and razor sharp imagery. The contrast is exceptional and the resolving power is outstanding. I have used a 4x power mate as well as a 2x with this eye piece and have not noticed any degradation in image quality whatsoever..an amazing piece indeed. I use a 770mm triplet @f7 and the view is sharp to the edge. Have had this 40mm for many years now and I do not thin k I will be parting with it any day soon…in fact I believe it has become somewhat of a cult collectors piece today. 5 STARSSep 1, 2009Magnificent view of the heavens..
Pros:Great performance, awesome quality
Cons:none
Comments:This has been a part of our family collection for nearly 15 years. We gathered up a a little collection of these Tele Vue lenses back in the day, including the 13mm, 10.5mm, 7.4mm, and this little jewel. And what a view it gives.
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
The quality is of course impeccable, with perfect optics and construction. They know their lenses and how to make em right.
Using an old Meade 395 refractor this lens worked wonders. The fov was great, with nice sharp views throughout. Its one of my favorites for scanning the skies on her scope.
Also tried it out on my more modern Xt8 dob and it performed very well. Had to give it some focus room by pulling it out of the focuser a tad, but once locked in it came into crystal clear view.
Its been a good lens and we'll continue to use it for years to come. If you find one be sure to snatch it up. Its a keeper in our book.Sort by
