Manufacturer Description
The Vixen Click Stop zoom is a premium zoom eyepiece for medium to low power applications. The eyepiece offers an apparent field ranging from 40° at 24mm to 55° at 8mm. The eye relief ranges from 15mm to 20mm. The external finish is matte black with silver numbers. The zoom ring is aluminum and grooved for a secure grip. The 1.25" diameter barrel is chrome plated and incorporates a wide safety grove.
All air to glass lens surfaces are fully multi-coated and lens edges are blackened for maximum contrast. The inside of the eyepiece is matte black to minimize internal reflections and the mounting barrel is threaded to accept standard 1.25" filters. Another nice feature is the twist-up eye guard, which can be adjusted for a comfortable eye relief. Weight = 7.9oz. Made in Japan.

An Optical Surprise

Cons: Comments:I bought this zoom for those evenings when the weather breaks giving me an unexpected opportunity to observe. It is both smaller and lighter than many of today's eyepieces and works well in 1.25" diagonals. Mechanically this eyepiece is well executed and fit and finish are very good. I must confess, I was pleasantly surprised with the optics which are sharp and contrasty across the entire zoom range and across the entire field. I didn't expect this of a zoom. The views are comparable to my orthoscopics. Some may object to the narrow FoV but, as an Abbe/Plossl user, I find this of little consequence.
