Not sure if this is a good one because...
Pros:Well made
Cons:Too strong for our needs
Comments:Neither one of our telescopes can handle it!
Bottom Line: Would you recommend this item? Yes
My mom picked this up to use with her Meade 395 refractor. D: 90mm, F: 1000 f/11. With a 3.5 aperture the absolute max imo would be 175x, maybe 200x. This lens pushes 400x with the scope.
With my 8" Dob its pushing 480x, nearly 100x beyond the "theoretical" limits. I was able to get some VERY close range shots of the moon, but checking out Jupiter produced a rather blurry ball.
In a scope that can handle this power I'm sure it would work well because the construction is top notch. The eye guard is comfortable and the fov is great for such a powerful lens. Wish we could make use of it...I think she was sold an EP that she didn't need, and didn't know enough about it at the time to understand why it wasn't a good match for her scope.Sort by
